Initial proposal discussion with Jeremy Till and Peter Blundell Jones, PM Arts Tower 21.12.07
Pitched my proposal to JT and PBJ, who seemed to be quite positive about the idea. General feedback points:
- Be mindful that the ‘handbook’ doesn’t become a toolbox.
- Define the issues through a critical review of current pedagogical texts before writing the ‘handbook’. Be specific.
- JT is of the view that many pedagogical texts are substandard, recommendation to look at general education texts first before tackling architectural texts.
- PBJ mentioned that criticism of the system may be refreshing. JT recommends looking at PBJ’s history of Sheffield School of Architecture centenary to see past precedent of the school ethos.
- Further reference JT & TS text that first defines the issue before proposing an alternative.
- Most importantly, DEFINE AN ETHOS.
